Burnley have confirmed the release of two players after the team were relegate this season. One of them is a former England player.
The Clarets will return to playing Championship football. After being relegate from the Premier League They finish 19th and they will be Promotion ufabet without Jack Cork and Johann Berg Gudmundsson. Another veteran Iceland winger.
A statement from the club on Tuesday said: “As previously announced, Jack Cork and Johann Berg Gudmundsson Prepared to leave the club when their contract expires this summer.”
“Burnley Football Club would like to thank all the departing players for their contributions. We wish them all the best in their future journeys.”
But Waut Weghorst, a striker who has failed at Manchester United, is one of 12 players to return to the club after his loan spell. The Dutch star spent the entire season with Hoffenheim, scoring 7 goals in 29 appearances.
The announcement comes as no surprise. As it is know, both will depart after the 2023-24 season.
Cork has made 266 appearances for the club, while Gudmundsson has played 199 games for Burnley after joining in 2016.
‘It was emotional,’ Gudmundsson told Clarets+ after Sunday’s match. ‘Saying goodbye to this place after eight fantastic years, seven in the Premier League, one lifting the trophy in the Championship, there’s just so many good memories.
‘It’s a sad day to say goodbye to all of the fans and the friends I’ve made here over the years.
‘It was good to be back at Turf Moor for one last time. Obviously we want it to be in different circumstances but it wasn’t meant to be. It was nice to walk around and say goodbye to everybody.’
Burnley also reveal that contract offers have been made to Jay Rodriguez and Charlie Taylor while options to extend the contracts of Josh Brownhill and Bailey Peacock Farrell have been activate. The loans of Mike Tresor and Maxime Esteve have also been made permanent.
The club is also in conversations with the parent clubs. And the representatives of Lorenz Assignon and Jacob Bruun Larsen to activate permanent moves. David Datro Fofana has returned to his parent club.
